Melbourne University French Club

Dear Members,

This Tuesday 20 April we will be meeting at Union House at 12:30pm outside Mr Baguette to grab some baguettes and then may head outside if the weather permits. We will be providing tasty baguettes and drinks so make sure you come along!

We have also teamed up with Monash University as we are hoping to stage a number of events in conjunction with their French club at the end of semester and for the rest of the year to come. We have sought sponsorship to help put on events for all the students of both clubs and so far MUFC and MFS have one generous sponsor:

TEFAL have kindly donated a top-of-the-range set of *Jamie Oliver 5-piece stainless steel frypans and saucepans*, which we will be selling via silent auction. The set is valued at *$799.95,* but is up for grabs at a discounted price through the Monash-Melbourne French community.

For all those dreaming of a professional cooking experience at home (imagine the crepes, ratatouille and bouillabaisse you could whip up!), please take advantage of this wonderful offer!

We have placed a $500 reserve on the package.

Bidding will close at 12am on Friday 2 July.

The highest bidder at the time of closing will be the winner of the
pristine TEFAL package. We will subsequently contact the winner to arrange for payment and pick-up.

Finally, we are saying goodbye to our Treasurer (and translator of my emails) this week as he leaves for Scotland to study. He has been an invaluable member of the French committee and his input in all events has been greatly appreciated. Not only this but he has also managed to keep track of all our expenses and income, turn up at events and help out, cook crepes on a number of occasions and generally been a helping hand for myself and all of the committee. We could not have made it this far into the year without him. I, along with the French committee (and the club)
would just like to say thank you.

So, if you haven’t yet met Nicolas then next week is your last chance - we hope to see everyone there to wish him farewell and good luck for his future endeavours. Or just come along and eat some baguettes!

Ce mardi 20 avril nous nous retrouveront dans la Union House a midi et demi devant la boutique ‘Mr Baguette’ dans le hall principal. On se prendra quelques baguettes et a boire et on ira se poser a l’exterieur tranquillou, meteo le permettant.

Nous nous sommes associes avec l’universite de Monash et leur ‘French Club’ attitre dans l’optique d’organiser ensemble plusieurs evenements et sorties d’ici la fin de l’annee. Tout l’argent gagne ira directement et uniquement dans le financement des activites des clubs francais des universites de Melbourne et de Monash. Vous aurez donc, en plus d’un magnifique set, le coeur allege par votre bonne action.

Laste beute note liste, nous saluerons mardi le depart de notre Tresorier adore et traducteur d’e-mails (quel type formidable), depart qui le conduira en Ecosse pour poursuivre ses etudes durant ces prochaines annees. Cet homme d’exception, cette legende vivante, ce dieu grec (peut-etre ? On ne le saura jamais.) nous manquera terriblement, tant il a apporte au Club par sa presence divine, tant des generations de French clubbers se souviendront de son esprit de lumieres. foireuses, j’espere pouvoir en voir pas mal d’entre vous mardi tout comme je tiens a saluer et a remercier l’equipe du French Club pour leur confiance et leur sympathie tout au long de cette annee. Je vous souhaite a tous une excellente continuation.
