Salut à tous, Frenchies et autres French lovers !

Pour commencer, un énorme merci à tous qui êtes venus au Night Market et avez été les supporters numéro 1 de nos impressionnantes capacités de crêpiers. Tout le monde derrière le stand s’est en tout cas bien amusé, vous a fait profité de gros rabais et des tas de crêpes ont été faites et dévorées ! Un grand merci encore pour nos volontaires, qui ont donné un énorme coup de main ! En espérant que vous avez choppé quelques crêpes gratuites comme juste compensation !

Cette semaine, on abandonne les crêpes et on passe aux pizza, même si ça ne fait pas trop français ! On aura donc une conversation pizza (grosse amélioration !!) donc prenez juste un petit repas à midi (oui il faut de la pizza pour tout le monde !!) et venez déguster quelques tranches de cuisine Italienne. Evidemment, les premiers arrivés (et afamés) seront les premiers servis !

Les festivités commenceront donc à 12h30 précises.

Hey Frenchies and French Lovers!

A BIG thanks to everybody that came along to the Night Market and supported our pretty awesome crepe making abilities. Everyone had a good time, big discounts were given and lots and lots of crepes were made and eaten! A special thank you goes out to the volunteers who helped us out on the night, hopefully you guys grabbed enough free crepes as payment!

So for this week, it is only fitting that we say goodbye to crepes and move on to pizzas! This week we will be having a few pizzas to accompany the conversation, so bring a light lunch and come have a good time on Tuesday with all of your French club people! First in first served as always! But the pizzas won’t be getting there until just before 12.30 so no need to rush from class!

Salut les Frenchies et autres French lovers,

Nous voilà déjà arrivés à la moitié du semestre ! Et pour une grande part d’entre vous,celà veut dire que les assignments se bousculent au portillon. La session de conversation du French Club sera un bon moyen de décompresser un peu et de se plaindre avec les autres du surplus de devoirs à rendre ! Pour celà, rendez-vous au Babel Building, G04, mardi de 12h30 à 13h30.

Par ailleurs, cette semaine est celle du Night Market !

Comme son nom le suggère, (ou pas), le night market est une soirée où les clubs des différents pays représentés à l’université proposent des petites douceurs et autres repas de leur pays respectifs. Comme nous sommes les représentants de la culture Française, nous vendrons de délicieuses crêpes ! Citron, sucre, confiture et Nutella seront les différents parfums proposés. Et comme d’habitude, les membres du club ont droit à une réduction (sur présentation de vos cartes !)

Half way thru first semester already! And for a good number of you, hello three assignments due in the same week! So take a break from all that and come to our conversation meeting this Tuesday, Babel Building Room G04 and chill out with some chic French music and general frenchiness.

ALSO this week there is the night market happening! Night market is as the name suggests, a market where all of the foreign clubs sell food from their country. As we are all cool chic French people, we are selling crepes! Lemon and Sugar, Jam and Nutella will be the plat-du-jour, and as always show your French club membership and get a discount! So it’s worth showing up…

Salut les Frenchies et autres French Lovers!

Pas mal, pas mal. Encore une fois, vous êtiez un bon paquet à être venu jeudi, pour la soirée au Emerald Peacock ! C’est pas mal pour boire un petit verre, du genre Pina Colada & Co. n’est-ce pas ? Si vous n’avez pas pu venir, vous avez raté un bon morceau, mais la fête n’est pas encore finie, on a encore quelques trucs en réserve !

Cette semaine, n’oubliez pas vos lunettes, amis myopes, et prévoyez le popcorn (sucré, ça va de soi) pour notre projection surprise. Le film sera projeté au Redmond Barry building, Lowe theatre ce mardi. Début de la projection à 12h20, soyez à l’heure !!! Le titre du film restera secrêt (pour le moment du moins, sauf si je reçois un petit pot-de-vin d’ici là). Mais on vous promet que ça sera un bon film Français, et avec sous-titres, pour que vous puissiez tout comprendre, malgré les finesses et autres jeux de mots.

Hey Frenchies and French Lovers!

Shout out to all my home boys and home girls who came out to the drinks night at the Emerald Peacock on Thursday! What an awesome place to have some drinks and / or Pina Coladas, and a good turnout as well, managed to just squeeze everyone into one of the booths. If you didn’t make it, you missed out on a good night. Special thanks go out to Michael, our professional photographer from the VCA who brought his party lens along!

This week get your long distance glasses ready, bring some popped french corn (popcorn) and turn on your french ears cos its surprise French Movie time! The movie screening will be in Redmond Barry, Lowe theatre on Tuesday starting just after midday, most probably around 12.20 and the actual movie we will be showing, is a surprise, but we promise it will be a good movie. P.S There will be subtitles, so don’t worry if your french isn’t perfect!

Salut à vous, Frenchies et autres French Addicts.

Chapeau bas à vous tous qui vous êtes rendus au picnic la semaine dernière. Hayden essaye encore de vous compter, mais il n’y arrive toujours pas ! Pauvre Hayden … aidons-le ! On va dire que vous êtiez entre 50 et 60, ce qui est et restera sans doute dans les anales du Club.

Pour la semaine qui vient, et qui sera encore bien occupée, nous vous avons prévu deux évènements : Tout d’abord, le classique mardi midi, de 12h30 à 13h30 : conversation dans notre salle G04, Babel building. De délicieux croissants vous attendrons sur place, histoire de vous faire saliver.

Deuxièmement, la soirée cocktails/grosse chauffe/binouze/vodka à gogo/grosse mine aura lieu ce jeudi !! Pour celà, on se retrouvera au Nectar Lounge, dans le CBD. C’est un bar en sous-sol, assez sympa, dont la spécialité est les vodka aromatisées. (Wasabi !!!!) Le jeudi soir, petit prix spécialement pour vous. L’adresse est : 228 Flinders Lane, juste à côté de Swanston St. On s’y retrouvera à 8h !

Hey Frenchies and French Lovers!

Hands up if you came to Petanque Picnic on Tuesday! What an awesome day, heaps of baguettes and stuff to fill them, petanque, crazy french chic music and beautifully sunny weather. What more do you want from a Tuesday!

For French Club week 4 we have two events planned: The first is our normal weekly conversation meetings on Tuesday 12.30-1.30, this will be running in our normal room, Babel building room G04, and there will be some delicious croissants for you all to snap up!

Secondly, we have our drinks night out this Thursday, starting at 8pm, French club will be at Nectar lounge in the city, Google maps reference below. This cool basement style bar serves flavoured vodkas and sells them cheap as chips on Thursday nights, so come down for a relaxed drink and have some fun. The Google maps reference will show that it’s quite easy to get to, 228 Flinders lane, just off Swanston st, so right near Flinders St.

Hey Frenchies and French lovers!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the French Film Festival with us, it was a great success, the film was great the traditional French dinner at wonton house afterwards was pretty memorable and beer and cider at Lounge Bar capped off a good night! Awesome!

But now its time for French club to get ready for PETANQUE & PICNIC TIME! Petanque and picnic is always fantastic and we will be supplying petanque sets for everyone to feel like you’re actually from the French Riviera, And a free baguette picnic lunch with ham, salami, cheese and all other tasty picnic foods, And we will also have some pastis on site for everyone to try. Do remember that this is for members only so bring you membership card and an I.D to prove that you are over 18

Salut les Frenchies et autres French Loveurs !

Merci à tous pour nous avoir rejoint au festival du Film Français jeudi dernier, ce fut un grand succès, le film était bon, le traditionnel repas Français à Wonton House qui a suivi restera dans les mémoires, et la bierre et le cidre du Lounge Bar nous ont bien préparés à une longue et douce nuit digestive ! Parfait !

Mais ce n’est pas fini, cette semaine, le French Club se prépare à une après-midi pétanque et picnic ! C’est toujours un bon moment sympa de se rassembler autour d’un boulodrome (improvisé) à siroter une petite anisette bien fraiche,et à dévorer quelques sandwitchs. encore mieux que sur la côté d’Azur ! Un programme pour les affamés : sandwitchs gratuits avec jambon, salami, fromage et tout les accompagnements qui font un bon picnic. Rappelez-vous par contre, que pour profiter des plaisirs d’un bon petit jaune, il vous faudra votre carte de membre, et une preuve d’identité, pour attester de votre majorité.

Salut les Frenchies et autres French lovers !

Whaou ! Sacrée surprise après notre premier évènement de recevoir ce nombre record de membres ! On espère que vous serez aussi assidus toute l’année ! Pour info, vous avez dévoré en une vingtaine de minute les 150 croissants qui vous attendaient. Beau boulot ! Mais ce n’est pas fini, car tout va très vite en un semestre d’université, et nous voilà déjà rendus à la semaine 2. Cette semaine, conversation comme d’habitude, ce mardi, et si vous êtes aussi nombreux que la semaine dernière, on profitera du soleil radieux pour se retrouver pour la seconde fois à l’extérieur.

Par ailleurs, CE JEUDI SOIR, le French Club s’en va au FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL, voir Donnant, Donnant (Fair is Fair).

Nous avons pré-acheté 15 tickets au prix habituel, et nous vous les offrons avec une réduction de non pas 10, non pas 20, mais 30% de réduction !!! Ce qui nous fait le ticket à $10 au lieu de $15 !!

Premier arrivé, premier servi ! Vous êtes prévenus ! Donc on ovus donne rendez-vous mardi, à vous et votre porte-monnaie, pour réserver votre place. Et si malgré tous vos efforts et votre bonne volonté vous n’obtenez pas un des précieux césames, vous êtes évidemment les bienvenus là bas en achetant un ticket par vos propres moyens. Plus on est de fous, plus on rit !

Encore une petite chose : Vous êtes tous vivement invités à rejoindre le groupe Facebook du French Club. C’est un bon moyen d’obtenir toutes les infos sur les différents évènements du club, et de voir les photos des précédents évènements. Il y a aussi évidemment possibilité d’y instaurer des discussions de groupe et en bonus, l’Alliance Française et d’autres endroits en lien avec la culture Française postent de temps en temps des promos ou des infos. Hey frenchies and French lovers,

Wow! What a huge turnout for our first meeting, that has to set a world record for the fastest a group of people have eaten 150 croissants. Bien fait French Club members! Alas uni moves quickly so on with week 2 for french club: we will be having our normal conversation on the Tuesday, and similarly, if there are beaucoup of us, we will move outside again!

ALSO, French Club is going to the FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL Thurday night.

We have pre purchased 15 tickets and are subsiding them for French Club members.

They will be $10 instead of $15!!! It’s first in first served, so the first people to bring $10 to the next meeting will be given a ticket. You are always welcome to buy a ticket for yourself and come join us all down there, the more the merrier as the french say!

On that note make sure you join our Facebook group. It’s a great way to get all the info about events, and see lovely pictures of previous events. There is also an opportunity for discussion groups. Hey frenchies and french lovers!

It was Awesome to see the great turnout and enthusiasm for french club that we had on Thursday and Friday at the French Club stall! Thank you to everyone who came along signed up and got a Petit Écolier. Our first event for this semester will be our first conversation meeting in our new room G04 in the Babel building. This room is stupidly easy to get to from union house and it’s on the ground floor as well so no pesky elevators!

We encourage all of you to come along and get to know your fellow French club members, meet some friends who will stay with you for all of uni and get to know your cool French club committee who will show you what it means to eat croissants and speak french! We will also have some discount vouchers for the new Crêperie on campus to distribute as prizes, so you’d be crazy to miss out on this bumper convo session to open 2011!

Ca fait plaisir de voir avec quel enthousiasme vous vous êtes rendus ces deux derniers jours au stand du French Club. Merci à tous ceux qui sont passés, se sont inscrits et ont pu “boulotter” leur Petit Ecolier.

Notre première rencontre sera une conversation dans notre nouveau local : Room G04, Babel Building. On vous encourage à passer nous voir pour vous retrouver et découvrir nos nouveaux membres et aussi retrouver votre comité. C’est aussi une bonne occasion de manger quelques croissants et de parler français ! Hey frenchies and french lovers!

Welcome back for another awesome year with French Club. This semester will be an exciting one with all of the fun events that your committee has already planned. First off we will need you all to sign back up as members for 2011, for this we will be at uni for the clubs and societies days which are Thursday and Friday, i.e. tomorrow and the day after and we encourage you to come along and find out about what we have planned… and grab a complimentary Petit Écolier biscuit!

Membership costs $5 for UMSU members and $10 for non-members. Only annual memberships are available. Exchange students are eligible for a 50% discount on their membership fee.

Also our inaugural event for semester one will be a conversation get together with croissants in our new room (same building) G04 in the Babel building! Tuesday 1 March at 12.30pm! More information will follow.. but we will see you all there!

Salut les Frenchies et autres amateurs de la langue de Molière.

Stressé par les exams qui pointent le bout de leur nez ? Accablé par les rapports à rendre ? Le French Club se rend bien compte du stress qui vous opresse en ce moment, c’est pourquoi nous avons décidé d’organiser notre dernier évènement du second semestre : un picnic avec de bonnes baguettes (normal), dans notre salle habituelle. Prenez donc un peu de temps pour vous détendre avec nous et profiter d’un délicieux repas gratuit ! On espère vous voir …
